DailyRecommendations
Irrigation requirements are calculated every day using the newest satellite data. The results of the calculation are then emailed or sent via WhatsApp to the user. The contents of the recommendation consist of the following columns
Zone
This indicates the field for which the recommendation is made.
Strategy
This section outlines the irrigation strategy applied to each field or orchard. Including the crop name in the strategy is considered best practice.
Date planted
To maintain good records, it is advisable to provide the correct planting date. This does not affect the costs charged. Fields can be loaded at any time after planting for recommendations, and costs are only charged when a session is activated.
Irrigation (mm) – 7 days
The total irrigation requirement for the past seven days. Some producers use only this total figure for irrigation during the week
Irrigation (mm) – Today
The system also provides daily recommendations. If a field needs to be irrigated, it is indicated here. This figure is set in the Zone settings.
Crop Cover (%) – Today
From each satellite image the green leaf cover is calculated and displayed here. It is also used to calculate the irrigation requirements.
Crop Cover (%) – Uni.
The distribution of the green leaf cover is also calculated and provided to the user. Producers use it to assess how well a crop is growing in a field and to compare fields with one another.
Geo-Irrigation Index – Last Satellite Image
Geo-Irrigation has developed a simple index to provide an indication of how well a crop is growing. This column shows the index values from the most recent image.
